The Kent Nature Partnership (KNP) is a coordinating strategic body, standing up for nature in Kent and Medway. The KNP has a vision for “a restored, healthy natural environment that functions as a coherent and resilient ecological network, thriving with wildlife and plants. This natural environment will inspire engagement, underpin human health and our economy, as well as providing solutions to the challenges facing Kent and Medway.”
The KNP was awarded Local Nature Partnership (LNP) status by the government in July 2012 to drive positive change in the local natural environment. The Partnership takes a strategic view of the challenges and opportunities involved in managing the natural environment as a system benefiting biodiversity, people and the local economy. The KNP’s mission is to enable a diverse range of organisations to work in partnership and to make the best use of their available resources in order to achieve significant gains for Kent’s biodiversity.
The Partnership is led by an Executive Level Board chaired by Matthew Balfour. The work of Board is supported by the Management Working Group. KNP also has a range of sub groups working on priority areas.
